(Reuters) - Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and the U.N. climate panel won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for raising awareness of the risks of climate change.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee chose Gore and the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to share the $1.5 million prize (739, 248 pounds) from a field of 181 candidates.

Following are winners of the Nobel Peace Prize since 1980:

2007 - Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

2006 - Muhammad Yunus and Bangladesh's Grameen Bank for work to end poverty

2005 - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its head Mohamed ElBaradei

2004 - Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai

2003 - Iranian human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi

2002 - Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter  Continued...

Darling to cut GDP forecast
