LONDON (Reuters) - Soul singer Duffy jumped back to the top of the British album charts on Sunday, knocking American rock giants REM off the top spot, the Official Charts Company said.

The Welsh singer reclaimed the No 1 spot after her "Rockferry" album was knocked to second place by REM's 14th studio album a week ago following a four-week reign at the top.

REM's "Accelerate" fell two places to number three, with the Rolling Stones' "Shine a Light" entering the chart at number two.

The album is from the Martin Scorsese-directed concert film of the same name and was released simultaneously with the movie.

Courteeners, a Manchester four-piece, went in at number four with their debut album "St Jude", while "Hey Ma" by the recently reformed James was another new entry at 10.

In the singles charts, British New York-based hip-hop singer Estelle held onto the top spot for the fourth week running with "American Boy", featuring hip-hop star Kanye West.

The only new entry was "Cry for You" by Swedish pop outfit September at number nine.
