Speight found hanged in railway station

LONDON (Reuters) - The body of missing BBC children's television presenter Mark Speight was found hanging from the roof of a London railway station, it was confirmed on Monday.

Network Rail staff discovered the body in a remote area next to Paddington station, out of public view, on Sunday morning, British Transport Police said.

A post mortem was expected to take place later on Monday or Tuesday when formal identification will be made, it added.

"British Transport Police can confirm that a body, believed to be that of 42-year-old missing person Mark Speight, was found hanging in a building adjacent to Paddington railway station yesterday morning," the statement said.

Investigations are continuing into the 42-year-old's death.

Speight's father, Oliver, said: "Mark was a wonderful son and brother to his family and will be very sadly missed."

Speight was reported missing last week, two months after his fiancee was found dead at their London flat.

He was last seen boarding a southbound Bakerloo line train from Queen's Park station last Monday.

Speight, who hosted the BBC art show SMart, had been questioned by police over the death of his fiancee Natasha Collins, 31, at their St. John's Wood home in January.  Continued...
