Shares in European biopharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN.L) fall 6.5 percent to 17.9 pence on market disappointment that promising pre-clinical test results for a key potential cancer treatment have not led to a partnership deal.

The company says its Atu027 drug, designed to treat advanced cancer, had resulted in the successful prevention of tumours.

"There may have been some buying in anticipation of some more significant news, and there might be a little bit of disappointment that it's not a deal," says one analyst.

Shares in the company have risen 48 percent since Nov. 20.
