TOULOUSE, May 15 (Reuters) - France flyhalf Frederic Michalak is returning to Toulouse after signing a three-year contract with his formative club after spending a season with the Natal Sharks, his agent told Reuters on Thursday.

"Fred and (Toulouse chairman) Rene Bouscatel have agreed on a three-year deal," Dalila Essediri said.

The 25-year-old, who has played 50 tests for France, joined the Natal Sharks in South Africa after the 2007 World Cup.

His contract was scheduled to end in June but he hyper-extended his left knee during a Super 14 game against the New South Wales Waratahs on April 27.

The injury, however, did not require surgery and Michalak could be back to action within three months.

Regarded as a flamboyant but sometimes erratic player, Michalak was born and rugby educated in Toulouse.

He won the French championship title in 2001 and the Heineken Cup in 2003 and 2005 with Toulouse, who will face Munster in the Heineken Cup final on May 24 at the Millennium stadium. (Reporting by Nicolas Fichot; Writing by Jean-Paul Couret; )
