Britain notifies EU on Mattel toy recall
BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Britain has formally notified the European Commission it is recalling Chinese-made toys, following up on Mattel's recall earlier this week, the Commission said on Thursday.
"Rapex notifications were ... received from the British authorities concerning voluntary recall by Mattel of a number of dangerous toys," the Commission said in a statement.
Mattel recalled millions of its Chinese-made toys across Europe on Tuesday, including Barbie and Batman, due to safety concerns.
RAPEX is the bloc's rapid alert system under which countries must immediately report any cases of unsafe products.
