UPDATE 1-Cricket-Sidebottom wraps up New Zealand innings
LONDON, May 16 (Reuters) - England left-arm paceman Ryan Sidebottom wrapped up the New Zealand first innings on Friday for 277 after some dogged resistance on the second day of the first test at Lord's.
Sidebottom, who did not take a wicket on Thursday's opening day, finished with four for 55, clean-bowling three of his victims.
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori was the final man out after a patient 48 in 162 minutes, including three successive boundaries off James Anderson.
The Kiwis added only 52 runs in the morning session after resuming on 208 for six, losing Jacob Oram (28) and Kyle Mills (10).
After the interval Sidebottom bowled Tim Southee for one and with Chris Martin at the crease, Vettori finally cut loose.
After striking just two fours in the morning session, he steered three boundaries in a row to the off-side boundary off Anderson.
After two interruptions for bad light, Sidebottom ended the innings by bowling Vettori. He took four for five from 10.1 overs on Friday. (Reporting by John Mehaffey; editing by Miles Evans)
