Nov 16 (Reuters) - Europe is gearing up for a big
increase in imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to provide
for new power stations and offset falling North Sea gas output.
LNG is gas cooled into liquid form for easy transport by
tanker. On arrival, it is reheated into gas and pumped into the
local pipeline network.
Here are details of liquefied natural gas import projects
being planned in the region. Capacity is in billions of cubic
metres a year. If it is an expansion that is planned, the
existing capacity is given in brackets.
