LONDON (Reuters) - Here is a selection of quotes from the marriage and divorce of Paul McCartney and Heather Mills:

"They make up such lies. They've called me a whore, a golddigger, a fantasist, a liar, the most unbelievably hurtful things and I've stayed quiet for my daughter," (Mills, speaking to GMTV about the press last year)

"In the big money cases, especially where there are long marriages, the courts have upheld that instead of going 50/50, if there was a special contribution from one half and that was built up by a uniquely creative element, or genius, the other half would get less than 50 percent." (Lawyer Alan Kaufman, speaking to the BBC)

"This is a short marriage and will set a precedent for judges," (Lawyer Vanessa Lloyd Platt to Sky News, underlining how closely the legal profession will be reviewing the decision)

- - - -

"Heather captured the hearts of the congregation when she briefly faltered and wept tears of joy whilst making her vows," (McCartney's spokesman after the couple's 2002 wedding)
