LONDON, April 17 (Reuters) - Soccer news in brief from around the world:

* AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has called on Serie A rivals AC Milan to take revenge for his side's Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Manchester United when they take on Alex Ferguson's men in the semis.

There was friction between the two sides off the pitch and crowd trouble in Rome during the first leg which the hosts won 2-1, before being thrashed 7-1 by United at Old Trafford.

Writing about Milan in the Corriere dello Sport, Totti said: "Good luck for their Champions League campaign. I'm sure the vast experience of (Carlo) Ancelotti's side in international matches will mean they can face United on an equal footing."

"I hope to see Milan in the final, it would mean they had avenged us."

* Aston Villa's Colombian striker Juan Pablo Angel, linked with a move to Major League Soccer club New York Red Bull, has been cleared to leave if the 31-year-old wishes.

Manager Martin O'Neill told Villa's Web site (www.avfc.premiumtv.co.uk): "He has a year left on his contract here and obviously we're trying to re-structure...I wouldn't stand in his way if he has the chance to extend his career.

"He lost his place in the side just after Christmas, but ever since then his attitude has been great. Maybe now he feels the upper echelons of the Premiership might be eluding him but there could be a great chance to start a new life in America."  Continued...
