BP CEO to attend Saudi oil meeting on June 22
LONDON (Reuters) - The chief executive of oil major BP (BP.L) will attend a meeting of producers and consumers in Saudi Arabia on Sunday to discuss record prices, a BP spokesman said on Wednesday.
BP confirmed that its CEO, Tony Hayward, will be going to the talks on June 22 in Jeddah. The chief executives of other oil majors, such as ConocoPhillips (COP.N) and Total (TOTF.PA), are also planning to attend.
Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter and OPEC's most influential member, is hosting the meeting to discuss what it called unjustified price rises. Oil hit a record high of $139.89 a barrel on Monday.
As well as CEOs, energy ministers from oil-producing and consuming countries are also expected to attend.
