BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Britain will recognise the independence of Kosovo, Foreign Secretary David Miliband said on Monday.

"The British government has decided to recognise Kosovo," Miliband said following talks among EU foreign ministers in Brussels, a day after Kosovo declared independence from Serbia.

"The plan is to do it this evening," he said.

He said he believed at least half of the European Union's 27 member countries would recognise Kosovo's independence this week.
