LONDON (Reuters) - Chancellor Alistair Darling will meet International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn in London later on Tuesday to discuss the credit crunch, a government spokesman said.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown's spokesman told reporters that Darling would discuss the situation in financial markets and London's proposals for dealing with the crisis at the forthcoming IMF meeting in Washington.

He said Darling had been in contact with U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and the Bank of England, Treasury and Financial Services Authority were working closely together.
