LONDON (Reuters) - The all-action sequel movie "The Bourne Ultimatum" about an amnesiac CIA assassin killed off its rivals to claim top spot in the UK box office chart.

The film, a follow-up to "The Bourne Supremacy" and the third film of the trilogy, fired straight to number one, taking 5.3 million pounds in its opening weekend, according to Screen International.

The film, starring Matt Damon, is based loosely on Robert Ludlum's novel which features his signature character Jason Bourne.

"The Simpsons Movie", the feature length outing for the animated Springfield family, remained in second.

Last week's number one, "Rush Hour 3", the police buddy film starring martial arts hero Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, dropped to third.

"Bratz: The Movie", which portrays four school girlfriends defying attempts to break-up their group by a domineering student body president, was a new entrant at fourth.

Robot action fantasy "Transformers" fell two places to fifth, with "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", based on J.K. Rowling's fifth book about the magical schoolboy, also slipped two, to sixth.

Animated comedy "Surf's Up", about a documentary crew at the Penguin World Surfing Championship, remained at seventh.

Musical comedy "Hairspray" lost a bit of its shine, falling two places to eighth.

Religious caper "Evan Almighty", starring Steve Carell in the most expensive comedy ever made, made one almighty fall from fifth to ninth, while children's cartoon "Shrek The Third" saw it settle at tenth during its eighth week in the chart.
