Thus gets "white knight" interest -report
LONDON (Reuters) - Two telecoms carriers have approached Thus THUS.L with "white knight" proposals as it fights off an unwanted 300 million pound approach by Cable & Wireless (CW.L), the Sunday Times said.
U.S. company Global Crossing (GLBC.O) and Britain's Colt Telecom (COLT.L) have been in contact with Thus's investment banking adviser Greenhill in the last two weeks, the report said.
Thus, Global Crossing and Colt could not immediately be reached.
C&W, Britain's second biggest corporate telecoms provider after BT (BT.L), said on May 28 it had approached the board of Thus about a possible cash offer of 165 pence per share.
Thus, which provides telecoms and broadband networks mainly to business customers, has since responded by saying it was not prepared to recommend the offer or enter into discussions.
Its shares closed on Friday at 153.25 pence.
