UPDATE 1-Soccer-Late goal earns Nancy draw at second-placed Lens
(updates with late action)
PARIS, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Nancy scored one minute from time to snatch a 2-2 draw at second-placed Racing Lens in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
Lens were leading 2-1 and hoping to secure precious points in their chase for a Champions League spot when substitute striker Youssouf Hadji gave the visitors a share of the points with a header from a free kick.
Northerners Lens, now on 45 points from 26 games, stay 13 points behind leaders Olympique Lyon after the five-times champions were held to a 3-3 home draw by Sochaux on Saturday.
Lens are four points clear of third-placed Toulouse, who outplayed Olympique Marseille 3-0 on Saturday.
Striker Marc-Antoine Fortune sped past two Lens defenders to put Nancy ahead after seven minutes but Lens reacted swiftly, Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane equalising with a headed goal in the 18th minute.
Dindane was brought down in the box six minutes later for a penalty Lens captain Seydou Keita converted to put the home side 2-1 up.
"I can't even say I'm disappointed because we didn't deserve better than this," said Lens coach Francis Gillot, whose players made costly defensive mistakes.
"We offered them two goals and when your aim is to be up there with the best, you simply can't do that." Continued...
