Club president stages hunger strike
MADRID (Reuters) - Granada 74 president Carlos Marsa has begun a hunger strike in protest against the council's refusal to allow his club to use the local football stadium.
"People may not like what I'm doing but the methods we've used up to now haven't worked," Marsa told a news conference on Wednesday.
"I'm not hurting anyone, only myself.... If I have to go I will go straight upstairs. I'm 59 years old, not 18 ..."
Marsa hit the headlines last month when he took advantage of the introduction of new regulations to buy the club a place in a higher league by purchasing Ciudad de Murcia's berth in the second division (Segunda A).
The Granada local council, however, have refused to allow the team to share the Los Carmenes stadium with the city's other two clubs.
