Norway, Sweden aim to unify renewable power scheme

In addition to the years-old Norwegian-Swedish discussions, Finnish power producers led by Fortum have also called for creation of pan-Nordic rules on a green certificate market.

The Nordic countries get roughly half their power from hydroelectric plants, mainly in Norway and Sweden, but about a quarter comes from gas and coal-burning plants and the rest from nuclear installations in Sweden and Finland. Denmark is a European leader in wind power.
