Scotland to import thousands of tonnes of diesel

LONDON (Reuters) - The Scottish Executive will import thousands of tonnes of diesel in coming days to offset any shortfalls due to the closure of the Grangemouth refinery because of strike action over pensions.

In total 65,000 tonnes of fuel, mostly diesel, representing about 10 days supply will come into the River Forth in seven shipments from across Europe, with four major shipments from Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Gothenburg, the Executive said on Sunday.

The key shipments due into the Forth are:

-- 5,700 tonnes of diesel and kerosene on the Antares from

Teesport

-- 10,000 tonnes of diesel on the BIT Octania from Gothenburg

-- 12-14,000 tonnes of diesel on the Alsterstern from

Amsterdam

-- 14,000 tonnes of diesel on the Bro Developer from Rotterdam  Continued...
