LONDON (Reuters) - Jelena Jankovic has become accustomed to missing a night out with friends to spend time in the treatment room and Saturday night will be no different for the Serbian second seed.

A hobbling Jankovic limped into the fourth round at Wimbledon on Saturday, relieved at maintaining her interest in the tournament after a week of shocks in the women's draw, but resigned to the prospect of intensive treatment on her left knee.

The Serb suffered an the injury after slipping at the start of her match against Danish teenager Caroline Wozniacki, whom she struggled to overcome 2-6 6-4 6-2. She now faces a battle to be fit for Monday's last 16 clash with Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn.

"What can I do? I don't like being injured. It's no fun going to treatments, going to have an MRI, sitting, sleeping in the physio room. I prefer to go out with my friends and just have a good time than being there all the time," she told reporters.

"I had so many problems lately with my health. And this today it's really unlucky because I was sliding and I made some really sudden move."

World number one Ana Ivanovic and third seed Maria Sharapova suffered shock defeats by opponents ranked outside the top 100 and Jankovic said the spectre of defeat had crossed her mind when a set down and struggling for form.

"I was thinking maybe I'm the next one," she joked.

"It's surprising. Somehow the top players, the top seeds, even though they're not playing so well, somehow they get through these rounds and then they start playing better and better for the rest of the tournament," Jankovic said.  Continued...
