Vodafone Egypt approves 7.60 Eg pound dividend
CAIRO, June 30 (Reuters) - Vodafone Egypt, majority owned by Vodafone (VOD.L), has approved a dividend of 7.60 Egyptian pounds ($1.426) a share for the financial year which ended on March 31, minority shareholder Telecom Egypt said on Monday.
The dividend is worth 817 million Egyptian pounds for Telecom Egypt (ETEL.CA) (ETELq.L), which has a 44.8 percent stake in Vodafone Egypt, the company said in a statement.
Vodafone Egypt says on its website that Vodafone owns 54.9 percent of the Egyptian company. That would make Vodafone's dividend worth about 1.001 billion Egyptian pounds.
Telecom Egypt said it also earned 494.5 million pounds from Vodafone Egypt, or 4.6 pounds a share, from a profit distribution approved at a shareholders' meeting on Jan. 17. ($1 = 5.33 Egyptian pounds) (Writing by Jonathan Wright, editing by Will Waterman)
