STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps close down 1.3 pct

The FTSE Small Cap index .FTSC closes down 1.3 percent, in line with the blue chips .FTSE, while the midcaps .FTMC are off 1.8 percent.

Volumes on the FTSE small caps are about 69 percent of its 90-day daily average volume, while the 90-day daily average volumes for the FTSE 100 and the FTSE 250 are about 130 percent and around 101 percent, respectively.

Amino Technologies (AMO.L) slides more than 31 percent after the internet television company warns its financial performance for full-year 2009 will be significantly below expectations, prompting Hoodless Brennan to downgrade its rating on the stock to "sell" from "hold". [ID:nL3605830]

Penna Consulting (PECO.L) gains 3.9 percent after the human resources consultancy posts first-half results, with Collins Stewart lifting its target price for the company which it says is well placed for growth. [ID:nL3593935]
