Briefs 4-Diop out for three months, Garcia heading for Qatar

Soccer - Portsmouth and Senegal midfielder Papa Bouba Diop will be out for at least three months due to a knee injury, the club said on their website (www.portsmouthfc.co.uk).

Diop, 30, who left English Premier League rivals Fulham in August 2007, scored the opening goal of the 2002 World Cup to secure a 1-0 victory over then-holders France.

Golf - World number two Sergio Garcia will play in the Qatar Masters from Jan. 22-25.

"The tournaments in the Middle East are great," the Spaniard told the European Tour's official website (www.europeantour.com). "The fields are good and you get a lot of world ranking points."
