* German champions Bayern thrashed 5-1

LONDON, April 5 (Reuters) - Manchester United regained top spot in the Premier League one point ahead of overnight leaders Liverpool thanks to a stoppage-time winner against Aston Villa on Sunday.

German champions Bayern Munich were hammered 5-1 by Vfl Wolfsburg, who go top of the Bundesliga on goal difference from Hamburg SV.

ENGLAND

Teenage debutant Federico Macheda's stoppage-time goal gave Manchester United a 3-2 win over Aston Villa and moved them a point clear of Liverpool, who had topped the table overnight following their 1-0 victory against Fulham.

Like Macheda, Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun had also came off the bench to score in injury time.  Continued...
