JOHANNESBURG, July 5 (Reuters) - British and Irish Lions lock Simon Shaw was handed a two-week ban on Sunday for dangerous play in the 28-9 final test win over South Africa.

Shaw, 35, received a yellow card after 37 minutes for striking scrum half Fourie du Preez with his knee on Saturday and a hearing ruled the Englishman guilty, the Lions said on their website (www.lionsrugby.com).

Shaw will miss the start of the domestic season as his ban starts in August, and is the second Lion to be suspended on the 10-match tour after Scot Nathan Hines received a one-week ban for a dangerous tackle during the 13-13 draw against the Emerging Springboks.
