BRIEF-Soccer-Zurich, Basel must play behind closed doors
ZURICH, July 6 (Reuters) - FC Zurich and Basel have each been ordered to play a home game behind closed doors following crowd trouble at a match between the teams in May, the Swiss Football Federation (SFV) said Monday.
FC Zurich, the home side, were also ordered to pay a fine of 80,000 Swiss Francs ($73,600) following the incidents at the match on May 17, the federation said on its website (www.football.ch).
"There was a substantial use of pyrotechnics by visiting as well as home fans, flares were intentionally and deliberately fired from the visiting sections into a sector of home fans and onto the play of field and fans of both sides climbed over gates and invaded the running track," said the disciplinary committee's ruling.
Zurich lost 3-1 but went on to win clinch the title by winning their final two games.
