STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps close 0.1 pct lower

The FTSE Small Cap Index .FTSC ends down 0.1 percent, underperforming London's leading share index .FTSE, which finishes 0.3 percent higher, while the FTSE 250 .FTMC adds 0.7 percent.

Leed Petroleum (LDP.L) falls 29 percent after the Gulf of Mexico-focused, oil and gas exploration and production firm announces it is to raise 20 million pounds through a placing in order to pay down debt and progress development of its oil and gas assets.

Hutchison China Meditech (HCM.L) climbs more than 5.9 percent, extending gains made the previous session after positive drug data, with Panmure Gordon raising its target price for the firm to 200 pence from 187 pence and repeating its "buy" rating. [ID:nL6724780]
