HONG KONG, July 28 (Reuters) - Great Wall Motor Co Ltd (2333.HK) said late on Sunday a Chinese court had dismissed a claim by Fiat Auto SpA (FIA.MI) alleging infringement of Fiat's patent by the Chinese car maker.

The Shijiazhuang Intermediate People's Court had dismissed the claim by Fiat, which alleged Great Wall's GWPeri model was an infringement of its patent, and ordered Fiat to pay the court fees of 8,800 yuan ($1,291), Great Wall said.

The Chinese car maker said it accepted the judgement and did not anticipate it would cause any material adverse effect on the company. It gave no further details.

Fiat was evaluating a number of options on how to proceed, Fiat spokesman Gualberto Ranieri said in an emailed statement on Monday.

"We acknowledge the Chinese court decision notwithstanding we point out that it goes on the opposite avenue vis-a-vis a resolution taken on July 15 by a court in Europe on the same issue," Ranieri said.

A Turin court last week banned Great Wall from selling its compact GWPeri in the European Union, saying the car too closely resembled Fiat's Panda.

Great Wall has said it was preparing documents for an appeal against the ruling and did not anticipate the Italian court order would have a substantial impact on its operations.

An executive at Great Wall said on Monday the company would start selling a pickup truck in Italy later this year. (Reporting by Donny Kwok; additional reporting by Valentina Za in Milan; editing by Jonathan Hopfner and Sue Thomas)
