Violence in eastern Chad threatens refugee aid-U.N.
The UNHCR runs 12 camps in eastern Chad, mainly along the remote Chad-Sudan border.
About 252,000 refugees from Sudan's Darfur region were receiving UNHCR care in that broad eastern region, in which 166,000 internally displaced Chadians are also sheltering.
A further 70,600 refugees from the Central African Republic were receiving UNHCR aid in southern Chad, Redmond said. (Reporting by Laura MacInnis; Editing by Jonathan Lynn and Sophie Hares)
