Italy has enough gas for two months - minister
ROME, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Italy has enough gas stocks to last two months and see it through the winter, although the Russia-Ukraine row is causing problems, Economic Development Minister Claudio Scajola said on Thursday.
"It is a difficult crisis but we can reassure listeners we will get through the winter and will be able to guarantee gas and energy supplies for families and industry," Scajola said in an interview on Italian television.
Italy was better placed than in the crisis between Russia and Ukraine over gas supplies in the 2005-2006 winter, he said.
He said gas stocks were enough for two months even if there was no positive news from the talks under way between Ukraine and Russia.
"I believe the problem will be resolved in the next few days," he said.
