ANKARA, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Turkey started the privatisation process for four power distribution grids on Monday, according to Privatisation Administration sources, after the sell-off of four grids last week that brought in more than $1 billion.
The pre-qualification deadline was set at Dec. 1 and the deadline for bids for the four grids was Jan. 29, 2010.
The government is looking to revive the pace of Turkey's privatisations, which have slowed in 2009, aiming for the programme to generate revenue of around $7 billion in 2010.
The four grids include Uludag in northwestern Turkey, one of the country's largest grids by consumption, Camlibel in central Anatolian, Firat in eastern Turkey and Van Lake in southeastern Turkey.
Uludag consumed 10,941 gigawatt hours in 2008, Van Lake grid consumed 1,137 gigawatt hours. Firat saw consumption of 2,145 gigawatt hours and Camlibel had consumption of 2,088 gigawatt hours in 2008, according to data on the Privatisation Administration (OIB) website. Continued...
