LONDON, Nov 9 (Reuters) - German utilities RWE (RWEG.DE) will submit a planning application to build a carbon capture and storage pilot project at its 1,500 megawatt coal-fired power plant in Aberthaw in South Wales, the company said on Monday.

"The plant will be at least eight times the size of existing 'post-combustion' projects in the UK and operate for twice as long," RWE said in a statement. (Reporting by Kwok W. Wan, editing by Anthony Barker)
