DCD Media wins three new TV commissions
LONDON, Oct 9 (Reuters) - British independent production company DCD Media Plc (DCD.L) said it had received three new commissions for its shock documentary programmes, sending its shares up 8.8 percent on Thursday.
The AIM-listed company said the three new programmes -- "My Big Fat Mexican Wedding", "Juliana - My New Face" and "Deaf - Blind Triplets" -- would make a "significant contribution" to its gross sales income.
Some industry experts believe the three new commissions could add more than 1 million pounds ($1.72 million) to the company's fee income once they are syndicated worldwide.
DCD's shares were up 8.8 percent at 31 pence at 0815 GMT, valuing the company at around 17.3 million pounds.
"DCD is now the premier maker of 'shock docs'," Chief Executive Chris Hunt told Reuters on Thursday.
"These programmes have very high viewing figures and sell like hot cakes around the world," he added.
Reported group revenues for the six months to end-December 2007 were 18.1 million pounds, but following several acquisitions in the second half, analysts anticipate full year gross sales of around 45.0-50.0 million.
DCD is due to announce its full year results in November. (Reporting by Malcolm Locke; Editing by Mike Elliott)
