MARSEILLE, July 10 (Reuters) - Former New Zealand wing Jonah Lomu has recovered from his health problems and is ready to start playing with French third division semi-professional club Marseille-Vitrolles Rugby, the player said on Friday.
"I have just started to train again, my health problems are over for good," the 34-year-old told a news conference.
"It's fantastic to be in such a beautiful city. It will be a challenge to help the team grow up and to bring my knowledge of the game to my team mates," added Lomu, who was regarded as the world's most spectacular player in his prime.
Lomu and Marseille club chairman Claude Atcher said the official signing was just "the matter of a few details".
The former All Black should join Marseille-Vitrolles on a two-year contract, they added.
"I took my decision two months ago and I hope Marseille will be my home for the next few years," Lomu said.
He burst into the limelight at the 1995 World Cup and won 63 caps, the last one in 2002.
A serious kidney disorder led to a transplant in 2004. Lomu came back to play for Cardiff Blues and North Harbour. Continued...
