STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps end down 0.1 pct

The FTSE small cap index .FTSC close down 0.1 percent, fairing better than the FTSE 100 .FTSE which is down 0.8 percent on the back of gloomy economic data from the U.S., while the FTSE 250 .FTMC is 0.7 percent lower.

JJB Sports (JJB.L) falls 10.7 percent after Goldman Sachs slashes its 12-month price target on the British sports retailer to 25 pence from 42 pence. JJB Shares have been under pressure this week after it confirmed on Saturday it was considering an equity raising.

Caledon Resources (CDN.L) gains 8.3 percent as the coking coal company says it is in advanced takeover talks with two possible buyers from China and India, a person familiar with the matter said on Friday. [ID:nLA481644]
