LONDON, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Darren Ferguson, son of Manchester United manager Alex, left his post as manager of Peterborough United on Tuesday, the Championship (second division) club said.

"Following a series of meetings, Peterborough United and Darren Ferguson have decided to part company with immediate effect by mutual consent," a club statement said.

Ferguson took over in 2007 and took the club to consecutive promotions but they have struggled in English football's second tier this season and currently prop up the table.
