STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-Shares flat in early trade

European shares are flat in early trade, after a four-session winning streak, with HSBC (HSBA.L) higher but Barclays (BARC.L) lower after their respective updates.

At 0830 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares is flat at 1,012.51 points after jumping 2 percent in the previous session.

HSBC rises 1.8 percent after an upbeat trading update, while Barclays falls 2 percent despite posting a 1.56 billion pound ($2.6 billion) profit in the third quarter. For more, click on [.EU]
