LONDON (Reuters) - Parliamentary Treasury Committee said on Wednesday it endorsed the appointment of Spencer Dale to the position of Bank of England chief economist.

"We are satisfied that Spencer Dale meets our two criteria for appointment to the Monetary Policy Committee of professional competence and personal independence," the committee said in a statement. "We wish him every success as a member of that body."
