STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps close 0.8 pct higher

The FTSE Small Cap index .FTSC closes 0.8 percent higher, while the blue chips .FTSE end up 0.7 percent, and the midcaps .FTMC are 1.2 percent firmer.
