GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks rose for a fourth day on Wednesday as reports showed Chinese factory output jumped to a 19-month high in October, while the ailing U.S. dollar hovered near a 15-month low.
The MSCI index of Asia Pacific stocks outside Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS was up 0.4 percent on Wednesday, with the materials and consumer staples sectors outperforming, while Japan's Nikkei .N225 rose 0.2 percent.[ID:nSP500566]
SOUTH AFRICAN MARKETS
South Africa's rand firmed to a three-week high against the dollar and euro on Tuesday, bolstered by strong commodity prices, while banking shares pulled Johannesburg's bourse up.
