GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares edged higher on Thursday as investors favoured riskier assets on further signs the global economy is picking up, while a weak dollar sent gold to a record high. The dollar recovered some losses after hitting a 15-month low, but was down 0.3 percent against a basket of major currencies. [ID:nSP34627]
SOUTH AFRICAN MARKETS
South Africa's rand held gains against the dollar on Wednesday, trading near a three-week high and local stocks rose for the fourth day in a row buoyed by mining shares.
