Shares in Inmarsat (ISA.L) rise 4.8 percent, outpacing a falling FTSE 100 .FTSE, on heavy buying as the satellite communications firm enters the MSCI world index MIWD00000PUS after a reweighting of the index.

Exchange traded funds (ETFs) and other index-tracking funds which match the composition of the MSCI index will need to hold shares in Inmarsat, causing the volume traded to shoot up by 136 percent of their average 90-day trading volume.

"The MSCI reweighting has caused them to trade on the upside today," a trader says.
