Olympics-Soccer-Belgium's Kompany misses flight home - media

BRUSSELS, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Belgium's Vincent Kompany was due to return to his club SV Hamburg on Tuesday after the German club threatened court action over him remaining at the Olympics, FIFA said, but Belgian media said the defender missed his flight.

The Bundesliga soccer side were unhappy over Kompany's refusal to leave the Games on Monday and requested FIFA to take action against the Belgian FA.

"We have been informed that Vincent Kompany will leave China today," a FIFA spokesman said on Tuesday.

Belgian media reported that the 22-year-old missed his flight to Frankfurt after forgetting his passport. A Belgian FA spokesman was not available for comment.

Kompany would have missed Belgium's team's final Group C match on Wednesday after being sent off in the 1-0 defeat to Brazil last week.

But Belgium's 2-0 win over the hosts on Sunday means a draw against New Zealand will be enough to secure a quarter final berth.

Kompany's refusal to return to Germany is the latest club-versus-country row to hit the Games.

On Saturday, Serbia was ordered by Partizan Belgrade to return two of its players for their Champions League tie with Fenerbahce on Wednesday.
