CAIRO, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Swiss-based Orascom Development (ORHD.CA)(ODHN.S) posted a 10 percent rise in its 9-month profit on Thursday after an increase in delivered units boosted real estate and construction revenues.

Net profit rose to 94 million Swiss francs ($94 million) from 86 million previously, while revenues rose 8 percent to 416 million francs. Revenues from real estate and construction gained 26 percent, while those from hotels added 12 percent.

Revenues from land sales, town management and tours operation all declined.

"Growth in real estate and construction revenues resulted from an increase in the number of delivered units," the firm said in a statement, adding that it had delivered 2,631 units in the 9-month period versus 1,694 in the same period a year ago.

"Although the hotels industry was challenged by the global economic environment, we worked hard to protect average room rates, control our costs, and manage occupancy rates to ensure that top line erosion has reduced impacts on the bottom line," the firm added.

Orascom Development said its total assets rose 4 percent to 1.72 billion francs from the start of the year, and earnings per share dipped 1 percent to 3.08 francs.

Orascom Development's main presence is in Egypt but it has projects in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Switzerland and Morocco. It recently announced plans for new projects in the UK and Turkey.

It said last month it will develop a resort town on the Adriatic coast in Montenegro that will include hotels and an 18-hole golf course. (Writing by Cynthia Johnston)
