LECCE, Italy, June 12 (Reuters) - Following are comments from policymakers at a meeting of Group of Eight finance ministers in southern Italy on Friday.

FRANCE ECONOMY MINISTER CHRISTINE LAGARDE

On oil prices:

"It is very difficult to determine the right place. That's why the president (Nicolas Sarkozy) said that we need to have discussions between producing and consuming countries. We have periods of very high volatility ... it's a subject that I would like to talk about tomorrow, that was briefly discussed by the deputies today."

On exit strategies:

"I am not ready to get wrapped up in exit strategies and say that we are there already. We have to start to anticipate what should be the exit strategy ... to support the effort but not give up on stimulus measures."

A G8 SOURCE

The meeting will ask the International Monetary Fund to prepare a study of how nations should withdraw financial stimulus, the G8 source told Reuters on Friday.  Continued...
