LONDON, July 14 (Reuters) - England's oldest Football League club Notts County have been bought by Middle East consortium Munto Finance.

County, formed in 1862 and among the founders of the Football League in 1888, have been in the doldrums in recent years and are languishing in League Two (fourth division).

"I firmly believe this is a momentous day for all those involved with Notts County, particularly the club's loyal supporters," new executive chairman Peter Trembling told the club's website (www.nottscountyfc.co.uk).

County were last in the top flight in 1992.
