DONETSK, Ukraine, July 16 (Reuters) - Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu has been hospitalised but is recovering well, the club said on its website on Thursday.

"Everything is OK. I'm getting better," Lucescu, who began coaching the team in 2004, said on shakhtar.com.

The UEFA Cup winners did not give any further details.

However, Shakhtar general director Serhiy Palkin said: "He told me that he is ready to coach the team and couldn't understand why the doctors were stopping him".
