* BAGHDAD - Iraqi security forces arrested a son of Adnan al-Dulaimi, leader of the country's main Sunni Arab political bloc, at his house in Baghdad, accusing him of terrorism and sectarian killings, Dulaimi said.

BAQUBA - An Iraqi security forces unit stormed the office of the governor of Diyala province early on Tuesday, killing his secretary and arresting a member of the provincial council in its capital, Baquba, 65 km north of Baghdad, governor Raad Rasheed Mulla Jawad said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen opened fire on a police checkpoint, killing a policeman and wounding three on a highway in central Baghdad, the Interior Ministry said, adding that the suspected killers had been arrested.

BAGHDAD - One U.S. soldier was killed in a rocket attack near Amara, 300 km southeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

NEAR MOSUL - A parked car bomb wounded five people including three members of a Kurdish security force when it targeted their patrol just north of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army arrested 48 militants during operations in the last 24 hours in different parts of Iraq, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
