Briefs-Mallorca president given deadline to find new owner
Dec 20 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:
Soccer - New Real Mallorca president Joaquin Garcia, appointed after the resignation of Vicenc Grande, has a mandate until the end of January to find a new owner for the financially-troubled Primera Liga club.
"(My mission) is to establish a new board so that Mallorca can continue to function... and to find a new investor for the club," Garcia said on the club's website (www.rcdmallorca.es).
Grande was close to selling his majority shareholding to British businessman Paul Davidson for a reported 38 million euros ($53.04 million) but the deal fell through just over a month ago.
Soccer - Iceland striker Veigar Pall Gunnarsson has agreed to join Ligue 1 club Nancy from Norwegian side Stabaek, Nancy president Jacques Rousselot told Reuters.
"He passed a medical on Thursday and will sign for three and a half years on January 2," said Rousselot. "The transfer fee will be under two million euros."
