Soccer - France striker Djibril Cisse is joining Sunderland on loan from Olympique Marseille, the Ligue 1 club said on their website (www.om.net).

Cisse, 27, had already played in the Premier League for Liverpool between 2004 and 2006.

He has scored nine goals in 37 games for France but was left out of the squad for Wednesday's friendly in Sweden.

Soccer - AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti failed to dampen speculation that Chelsea's Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko could be returning to his former club.

Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper said Shevchenko would rejoin the Serie A side on loan after a meeting between club owners Silvio Berlusconi and Roman Abramovich.

"Regarding Shevchenko there is no official news. Right now Shevchenko is still a Chelsea player," Ancelotti told a news conference.

Cricket - Indian fast bowler Munaf Patel has been fined for breaching the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Code of Conduct during the second one-day international against Sri Lanka.
